Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse

Matot Dumbwaiter Increases Restaurant’s Food Delivery Efficiencies

Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse

Founded in 1965 by Ruth Fertel, the Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse family of restaurants is known for providing their guests with fresh food, good service and delicious steaks with the trademark Ruth’s Chris sizzle. The Indianapolis North location for Ruth’s Chris is located at 2727 E. 86th Street, and serves the northern Indianapolis area.

This restaurant was facing a few challenges. They needed a way to efficiently move food from the kitchen to the main dining area, but have a long staircase that made carrying trays of food between floors problematic. In addition, the restaurant shared a retail area with other businesses, so space was at a premium.

Matot designed a custom dumbwaiter solution to meet these challenges. Professionally installed by Thyssen Krupp Elevators of Indianapolis, the Matot Model 100 Ambassador Drum Dumbwaiter has a large 500lb capacity that can handle the heaviest trays of food. Constructed of sturdy stainless steel that is easy to clean, the 36 inch by 36 inch car has a counter loading opening for trays of food, and quickly travels between the kitchen and the dining area in less than seventeen seconds.

Sustainability is also important to Ruth’s Chris, and the slim custom design of the Matot restaurant dumbwaiter uses less space than a passenger elevator, less energy and frees up more floor space for the restaurant.

Matot is proud to provide a food delivery system that will pay for itself many times over with efficiency savings and last for the life of the building.
